Central's final night
Hong Kong's Halloween celebrations reach their final Saturday on 31 October, with public-space installations in Central and a separate street festival in Mong Kok offering different ways to take part.
The organiser of Halloween in Central lists 17–31 October as the programme period. Its installations at Statue Square Gardens South usually run from 4pm to 11.30pm, with a special extension on the final night until 1am on Sunday, 1 November. Chater Road's special happenings are date-specific; they are not a daily repeat of the opening programme. Official programme.
For young people planning a visit, that makes the programme page more useful than an undated social-media poster. Check the particular activity and venue, then decide whether the visit is about an installation, a timed activity or simply exploring the district with friends. An event running somewhere in Central does not mean every advertised component is available throughout the evening.
What is scheduled, and when
| Location or activity | Published timing for 31 October | Before you go |
|---|---|---|
| Statue Square Gardens South installations | From 4pm until 1am on 1 November | The closing time falls on the following day |
| Chater Road bouncy castle | 2pm–9pm; the last session ends at 8.45pm | On-site registration and a fee apply; check participation rules |
| Portland Street street-festival area, Mong Kok | Transport restrictions run 7am–10pm | These are traffic-control hours, not the full entertainment timetable |
Central activity details come from the organiser. Mong Kok traffic times come from the Transport Department's notice. The 18 October DJ kick-off is an earlier event and is not presented here as tonight's programme.

A different street arrangement in Mong Kok
In Mong Kok, the Transport Department's notice specifies the closure of Portland Street northbound between Argyle Street and Shantung Street from 7am to 10pm on 31 October. It also prohibits the right turn from Shantung Street westbound into Portland Street northbound during the arrangement.
The taxi stand is temporarily moved to Shanghai Street near Mongkok Complex, while the Portland Street taxi drop-off point is suspended. Police may adjust measures for conditions on the ground. Transport Department notice.
Langham Place identifies the arrangements as supporting its “Next Stop, Mong Kok!” Halloween street festival and says the mall remains open. It recommends public transport for visitors. Organiser's travel notice.
The public services behind the celebrations
The Food and Environmental Hygiene Department announced additional street and public-toilet cleaning for Central's celebrations, together with inspections of food premises and public-space conditions. It arranged round-the-clock attendants at Lan Kwai Fong Public Toilet on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays during the relevant period. FEHD announcement, 15 October.
For a community-focused view of a major festival, these services are part of the story alongside costumes and decorations. They show how public space must continue to work for residents, workers, visitors and businesses during a busy evening. Visitors can help by using bins, keeping entrances clear and following on-site directions.
Plan beyond midnight
If travelling with friends, choose a meeting point and agree how to leave before entering a busy area. Check current transport information rather than assuming a daytime route, stop or taxi pickup will remain available.
Cross-boundary visitors should also check the next day's date. Our companion Huanggang report explains the temporary Shenzhen Bay clearance extension into 1 November, and how it differs from Huanggang's continuing 24-hour service. This report describes announced programmes and arrangements; it does not claim to have observed tonight's turnout.
